Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Guest Designer

Hello! Today I'm the guest designer at Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, and the challenge is...

I dearly love the Sisterhood. I love making funny, snarky cards. This one is more funny than snarky-

and on the inside-

My husband loved this card-it's one of the few times hes belly laughed one of my cards.

Here's the materials I used:
  1. Image: Retro woman on phone (Graphic's Fairy).
  2. Paper: coral cardstock, coral polka dot, white cardstock (Stash).
  3. Ribbon: black & white gingham (Offray, Jo-Anns).
I made a second card, just because I wanted a choice of what to submit-

The sentiment is computer generated and I added the Art Impressions Wine Diva stamp and colored her with Copics. The blue cardstock is from Recollections, as is the kraft base. The background I stamped with the Paper Smooches set Hot Concoctions with Memento's Rich Cocoa ink. Such a fun card!

Thanks for visiting!

I'm also entering this at Naughty or Nice Challenges.

Trying a new Technique...

At Shopping our Stash the challenge is to try a new technique. The inside of the card was a toughie as I didn't want the inside totally embossed!

To make the papers I inked up my Darice falling leaves embossing folder (the raised side) with a Stampin' Up multi-color ink pad called Pumpkin Patch. The paper was then ran through the embossing machine and I got the result you see! I used Bittersweet Twine, craft leaves, and an acorn (cut with Art Philosophy) for my focal point. The inside was made as the front but made with a diagonal pattern only on the long corners, so a blank non-textured space is left for a sentiment or hand written note. I had to send the paper through twice to get the corners embossed. ETA: To get the diagonal corners like this, I inked up the embossing folder on the diagonal, and then carefully laid the paper over it on the diagonal also, with the main portion hanging outside the embossing folder. I used my Big Shot, as the Cuttlebug is too small for diagonal layouts. But I could have done a straight 2 inch edge in the Cuttlebug on each end.

Thanks for visiting, and have a great day!

DT Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs

Hello! Today is my spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs, and I'm here with a Lady Bug thank you card that is great for any occasion!

I used the Ladybug from Kitty Bee Designs, printed it off with a toner copier, and used a heat laminator to red foil the outline (here is a great tutorial for this)-

I used Copics to color the ladybug, and adhered her to the cross stitched circle by Lawn Fawn. The red gingham paper is Creative Memories (along with the ladybug stickers) I've had for years! The ribbon is Offray (Jo-Anns), and the thank you deboss die cut is Spellbinders Sentiments 6 using Versafine Onyx ink.

Thank you for visiting!

SoSS I is for Inappropriate

It has been far too long that I've played in any challenges. So when I saw the theme at Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers I knew I had to play!

I absolutely love their challenges, and here is my project-

and then the inappropriateness (if you don't like profanity, please go no further)

I'm going to send this card to my brother so he can forward it on to his boss at work. She is such a twit!

Here are the materials I used to make this card:
  1. Stamps: Outside sentiment, Helen & Alice (Funny Bones by Riley & Co.), inside sentiment (Snarky Stamps for Paper Issues.) Versafine Onyx ink.
  2. Paper: Theresa Collins Memorabilia 6x6 pad, grey, teal cardstock (stash).
  3. Ribbon: American Crafts.
  4. Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug

Kitty Bee Designs Challenge #77-All About Animals

Welcome! The challenge at Kitty Bee Designs today is All About Animals and our sponsor is Aurora Wings!

Here is my project-

I chose this adorable Christmas Pup from Aurora Wings for my card. I used Copics to color him (E01, E33 E34, E51 for pup, R35, R43, R46 for the hat & candy cane) and chose a very simple design to show how cute he is! The background paper is from Papermania Forever Friends Christmas Kraft Notes, and I cut an extra stocking from the remnants to insert in the center. And since I'm on a mission to use up my scraps, the sentiment cardstock is from my stash. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. and stamped with Versamark Onyx ink. I also used American Crafts red & white twine to cover up a dotted line that the stockings hang from.

For You Cow

Hello! Today is my spotlight day at Kitty Bee Designs, and I would like to share this card with you!

The background paper is some old Creative Memories that I'm trying to use up! In fact, I'm trying to make it a mission of mine to use up my stash instead of buying new. The paper is two sided-the solid green and the flowered side, which makes it easy to use because it already coordinates. The image is Kitty Bee's For You Cow, which I colored with my Copics. The sentiment was cut with MFT's fishtail banner die, and Unity Stamp Co. (Summer Girl set) was used along with Versafine Onyx ink. The flower is from my stash (it was light yellow and I colored it with Copics) as is the button I added for the center.

Thank you for joining me!

Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight post-June

Hello! Today I'm sharing with you a masculine birthday card using the Hello Pup from Kitty Bee Designs!

I colored the image with Copics, and used My Favorite Things Dies (Stitched Squares, Stitched circles) to cut out the sentiment (Avery Elle, Thanks a Bunch set) and image. I have no idea who made the large plaid paper because it's been in my stash forever! The sand cardstock is Bazzill, dark grey is Recollections, light grey is DCWV Black Currant stack. I also added a small bit of glue to the dog tag and used gold decofoil to make the tag nice and shiny. I didn't add any additional embellishments because guys really don't care about those things-thank goodness. Nice & Simple!

Thanks for visiting.

V is for Vroom!

At  Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, the challenge is V for Vroom! Make a project with two or four wheels, and here is my project:

I wanted to do something different, so I chose an easel card. There are a ton of tutorials out there if you've never made one. Here's the process I did:

  1. Make easel card. I used Wild Asparagus cardstock.
  2.  I covered the easel portion with the blue polka dot paper, and added clouds from the Cricut Groovy Times cartridge. The motorcycle is also on the same cartridge, and this was cut @ 2 3/4" out of scrap paper.
  3. The easel "stop" I made by stamping the road from Papertrey Inks School Time set onto black cardstock, and embossing in white. Use pop dots to elevate the road.
  4. Sentiment is from my OLD Creative Memories Mod collection, cut in half and positioned on right hand side of card.
It's kinda fun making a different type of card, don't you agree?

Shopping our Stash Coffee or Tea challenge

Shopping our Stash has a Coffee or Tea challenge! Which saved this poor little canvas from getting thrown away. Probably 4-5 years ago, I painted the canvas and added the coffee cup (Cut with my Cricut). Then I couldn't figure out what to do with it, and so put it away. Here is how I finished it-

I found a stash of Zva Creative rhinestone flourished that I had hidden from myself (arrgghhh!). I thought they resembled steam. The sentiment is actually one that I have on a tea towel! That would cut using my Cricut as well, using a font I found on the internet. I love brown and teal color combos!

Thanks for visiting.

SoSS Not a Card Challenge!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are having the N Challenge-not a card! So I thought this would be a good time to make a present for my brother, who is a CNA-

(Disclaimer: the following contains profanity and gross situations. Continue at your own risk!)

Here is my project:

He has told me so many stories about patients, I thought I would add just a few of the things patients have actually told him! And of course, after I was done I thought of a bunch more! I found the picture of the hospital on the internet, and cut it up to resemble one of those days when the shit hits the fan over and over again! The word bubbles are from Stampin' Up (one of those 99 cent deals at Goodwill!), the nurse is from Art Impressions and colored with copics. The main word bubble is an Action Wobble stamped with words from the Oh Hell No set from Snarky Stamps.

I hope he likes it!

Dies R Us Happy Birthday challenge

At Dies R Us, the challenge is Birthdays, and this is a card I'm entering-

I had this idea using a Frantic Stamper (Woven Ribbon) die, and I ended up creating 3 cards with just three papers out of DCWV Black Currant stack paper. I alternated the three papers for a true woven effect. I used MFT Fishtail banners for the sentiment, and fussy cut a flower out of another sheet of the same stack to add to the card. I finished it with Michael's Recollectiojn stickers.

Thanks for visiting!

Blingy!

At My Sheri Crafts, the challenge is pearls or bling, and here is my project to enter into their challenge-

This is pretty simple-I made a kraft card base, and used a Technique Tuesday stamp called blah (Delightful Daffodil-I forgot to run back to the craft room to find it, so I used blah to remind me to insert it. Doh!). I used Memento's Rich Cocoa ink, and popped up the daffodil with foam squares. I found a stash of Zva Creative rhinestones and used this swirly flourish to complete the card. The inside has a happy birthday sentiment stamped in the same ink.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Fugly Challenge!

At the Sisterhood of Snarky Stamps it's F for Fugly!  Hoo Boy! I didn't have to dig too deep in my reject paper stack to find Fugly paper! Here is the fugliest paper I had in the stack-

Ewwww, gross! And here is what I made with it-

I covered the fugly paper with vellum to soften the fugly. The corners were rounded using a corner punch on the fugly paper, vellum, and cardstock base. I found this die cut in my die cut stash and stamped this Unity Stamp Co.(What kind of wine set) sentiment on it. The cream cardstock above the fugly paper is embossed with a Cuttlebug Damask embossing folder. The black satin ribbon is from Michaels. I added a Happy Birthday to the inside, and Voila! Done!

MFP Challenge

At Mark's Finest Papers, this challenge is to use one of two techniques, and I chose the Retiform, which you can find here. This is my card:

I used the "Koi Fish" set by Mark's Finest Papers, and Mermaid Lagoon by Ranger for the blue ink, Versafine Onyx for the sentiment and images.

I had a blast with this technique! I think it turned out fairly well.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge

I'm entering this card at the Shopping Our Stash Pink (gah!) UFO challenge.

And I have to admit, I'm with Leslie Hanna, who inspired this challenge-I can't stand pink.

I have always been a tall girl- 5 ft. 6 in. tall in 5th grade. And my Mom always wanted to dress me in pink. I looked like a huge Shirley Temple and hated it. The only reason I have this much pink on a card is because it came with other stuff!

Here is my card-

First off, all of this came out of my stash! The paper-the middle border came out of my scrap stash, and I used a Fiskars Lace punch to dress it up a bit. The pink polka dot also came out of the scrap stash. Ribbon is from American Crafts and came in one of those 20 packs you can get real cheap at Tuesday Morning sometimes. The light pink is from a 6 x 6 Avery Elle pack I won from Paper Crafts, and the sentiment is from the scrap stash too. Paper Smooches Pretty Momma set, Spellbinders Labels Nine die, My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle die and unknown pink pearls make up the sentiment box. The pink roses are Prima, and I used a scrap of green to punch (Martha Stewart) the greenery. The background paper is from My Little Shoebox.

This would have been a great card for my Mom, who passed away Valentines Day 2015. She loved the green and pink combo alot. I think I'll give it to her on Mother's Day, just so she knows how much I loved her and miss her.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Embossing Challenge

At the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, the challenge is to emboss. I have two methods on this card, which I made for my husband's birthday this coming Monday. He's a gear head, so it's perfect for him!

And since he has a pretty wicked sense of humor himself, here's the inside-

He'll get a kick out of that Unity Stamp Co. sentiment!

The embossing folder is Tim Holtz Steampunk, and I used TH Distress Ink Fossilized Amber on the embossing folder on white Neenah cardstock. I then used TH Distress Ink Broken China, Evergreen Bough and Ground Espresso to create the faux patina you see. I applied Versamark ink with a cosmetic foam wedge, applied Zing gold embossing powder, and randomly rubbed some of it off, then heat embossed.

The old Stampin' Up vintage Corvette was stamped with Moss Green ink, and I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to staple the gold twine to the corners. Then the embossed panel was glued to the Bazzill dark gold, then to the American Crafts dark brown cardstock.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge-Chipboard

Well, I went a wandering through my bookmarks looking at what challenges were out there, and I came across Shopping Our Stash chipboard challenge. And boy, do I have some OLD chipboard stuff I just found! Here is my project for the challenge-

Everything on this card came out of my stash! I have a basket of die cuts (stuff that was the wrong size/color) that the brown circle, butterfly, gold tags and gold scallop circle came out of. The stripes were made out of fabric tape I bought but hadn't used until now. The chipboard "celebrate" came off a brand new sheet of chipboard sentiments I found in the chipboard bin. I have no clue who the manufacturer of any of this is! Perfect for a Shopping our stash challenge.

SoSS L is for Legendary Creatures

At Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, the sisters have decided we need a challenge all about Legendary Creatures. I looked through all my stamps, rubber or digital, and didn't see anything I could use!

So I looked on the internet for a Legendary Creature.

I searched and I searched.

And finally, thanks to photo editing software, I got my image.

Here is the Legendary Birthday Fairy-

Do you ever write stuff down hoping to use it one day? That's what I did! I found it looking for other things and the whole card came together from there. The "spotty memory" has been quite frequent lately, and it's like Christmas every time I search for something I've lost-I find treasures I've forgotten about. *sigh*.

And I am entering this at SoSS Legendary Creatures Challenge.

Easter Challenge at Aloha Fridays!

At the Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge, it's an Easter Challenge! You can win some great images from our sponsor-

I used the Marilyn Bunny from Alica Bel to make this card-

The image is colored with Prismacolor pencils, and I used a decorative corner punch from McGill to dress up the plain square. Another McGill punch was used to make the grass. My Favorite Things Fishtail banners were made with the scraps of dark yellow (computer generated sentiment) and green scraps. I've had the egg paper for so long I have no idea where it came from! I'm on a real mission to use up as many scraps and papers I can because I have too much of both!

Thanks for visiting!

Brown Challenge at MFP

The challenge at Mark's Finest Papers is to have brown as the main color.

Here is my card:

The image is an MFP stamp from the Spring Flowers set, colored with Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps "May Hope sustain you" set. The papers are from my paper and scrap stash, and I used Spellbinders Edgeabilities for the yellow strip at the bottom.

A friend of mine just experienced a real tragedy. This past Saturday was her birthday, and her husband passed away that same morning unexpectedly. This card is for her.

Kitty Bee February Spotlight post

Hello! Today is my spotlight day at Kitty Bee Designs, and I've made a card with the cute Ram image from the Chinese Zodiac collection from the Kitty Bee Etsy store-

I did make this an Aries card for a friend of mine who's really into astrology. I thought it would be cool to make an actual copy of the constellation (drew it freehand) using the leftover stars from the Spellbinders Star Circles die. The image was colored with Copics, and the sentiment square was made using Micosoft Word, and making a dark blue fill of the text box with white letters. The background was so fun to make, using masking fluid and black and blue Brusho's.

SoSS K is for Kiss Challenge!

I knew what I was going to make for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers K is for Kiss challenge-it was just finding time to make it and get it posted. So TA-DA, here it is:

I printed the sentiments out on the computer, and put them where they need to go. The front ones I doodled around the edges with a black scrapbooking marker. The lips are cut with my Cricut Indie Art cartridge. I noticed when I inserted the pictures I didn't get the lips glued very well, so I will fix that when I give this to my husband sometime in his lunchbox, just for the heck of it. He has a great sense of humor so he'll get a kick out of this!

Kitty Bee Designs Valentine Challenge

Hello! The challenge at Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday Challenge is Valentines/love!

Here is my DT project-

The background paper was made by inking a plain white cardstock with Rangers Distress ink (Worn Lipstick). I then put a heart stencil over the paper and sprayed plain water over it. After blotting the stencil, I removed it and it left the hearts you see. The reverse side of the paper is the top 2/3 rd's of the card. I wanted to add more black so I randomly outlined hearts on the papers. The heart die was cut out of the same paper I made. I wish I had used some pearl in the water to give some glimmer to the paper! Next time.

Here is a list of materials I used:
  1. Image: Julia Spiri-The Teddy and the gift, colored with Copics.
  2. Dies: My Favorite Things Rounded Rectangles, Spellbinders Swirly Heart, Fiskars Tag punch.
  3. Ribbon: 360 Celebrate (Michaels).
  4. Stencil: Bo-Bunny hearts (part of 4 pack)
  5. Ink: Versafine Onyx Ink, Rangers Worn Lipstick. Creative Memories black pen.
  6. Stamp: Happy Days set by Cardz TV.
